CNN International launches on Freeview on 15 January

From 15 January CNN International will be available on Freeview channel 84 everyday from 9pm to 1am. A retune may be required to see this new service - see infomation below.

At 10pm on the 15 January CNN’s programme line-up begins with a 1 hour special, ‘The Middle East Challenge’, hosted by CNN’s Hala Gorani. The programme sees Gorani travel through the Middle East to take the pulse of the world's most dynamic and volatile region and investigate the underlying and often-unspoken issues creating roadblocks to economic and political progress.

In January alone, Freeview viewers will have a front row seat to two of the most important events on the 2009 world calendar. CNN will offer coverage as history unfolds on the 20 January with the inauguration of US President-elect Barack Obama. Compelling, access-all-areas reporting will include the swearing-in ceremony and the inauguration parade. From 27th January audiences can watch CNN’s comprehensive coverage of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland as the world’s business leaders debate the financial crisis and search for solutions.

CNN International has been broadcasting part of its schedule from the UK since 1985. The channel currently broadcasts more than 50 hours a week from it’s European headquarters in London. CNN also invests heavily in documentary and feature content. Programmes such as ‘CNN Business Traveller’, ‘Living Golf ‘, ‘The Screening Room’ and ‘Revealed’ were developed and produced in the UK with UK talent both behind and in front of the camera.

Retuning information
Retuning (or rescanning) your digital box is straightforward. Some digital boxes and TVs retune automatically, others need to be manually retuned. To manually retune you need to press "Menu" on your remote control and follow the on-screen instructions or those printed in your manual. The process may differ slightly depending on which manufacturer box you have however typical sequence is:

• Press MENU on your remote control.
• From the Menu options, select the 'Tuning Menu'
• Select 'Auto Setup' or 'Update' to retune your digital TV*

*also referred to as 'Update', 'Rescan', 'Replace' or 'Store Channels'
