Digital UK announces changes affecting viewers in the Meridian TV region

As part of the preparations for the digital switchover in the Meridian TV region in 2012, Digital UK have announced some changes that will be made to TV services received via an aerial in the south coast area of England. These changes are necessary due to planned alterations to TV broadcasts in France.

The changes are due to take place in the early hours of Wednesday 25th March 2009 and expected to be complete by 6am.

Freeview viewers receiving their TV signal from the Rowridge transmitter (viewers in Hampshire, East Dorset, west Sussex and on the Isle of Wight) may have the following message appear on screen:

"If you're in Hampshire, East Dorset or the Isle of Wight, you may need to re-scan your box on 25th March to continue watching this channel. Questions? Call Digital UK on 0845 845 0231. Press YELLOW to clear this message."

You can find instructions for retuning (re-scanning) here .

Digital UK has also announced that on the same day, analogue homes will lose channel Five. This may also occur in digital homes using a special aerial to pick up Five from the transmitter at Fawley power station. In order to continue watching this service, affected households will need to get digital TV.
