If you live in a flat or a building that shares an aerial, then your existing communal aerial determines whether or not you can see Freeview. Your current reception for analogue TV is a good guide as to whether or not you can see Freeview. If you're not seeing a perfect picture, then your communal aerial might need to be checked by your landlord. Especially since you might need to change to an Integrated Reception System (IRS) that distributes the signals more effectively.
However, it is worth trying Freeview out before having an aerial survey carried out. If you do want to try this, make sure you buy the equipment from a retailer who has a refund return policy.
