About Switchover

The digital switchover process in South West Wales (Preseli transmitter)

Switchover for the Preseli transmitter group is a two stage process taking place on Wednesday 19 August and Wednesday 16 September. Engineering work is carried out at the Preseli transmitter and each of its 25 relay transmitters. At each stage, services will be restored at different times depending on where you live.

On 19th August the switchover process starts and the analogue BBC Two service will be permanently turned off at the Preseli transmitter.

Then on 16th September the switchover process is completed and all analogue services are turned off at Preseli transmitter. To continue watching TV, viewers will need to install or retune their Freeview equipment.

On both days, services at the Preseli transmitter and some relay transmitters are expected to be restored by 6am, and services at all transmitters are expected to be restored by late afternoon. You will then need to retune your equipment.

Digital UK are the organisation responsible for managing the switchover process. You can find more about the Preseli switchover on the Digital UK website .

How do I retune my equipment?

To find out how to re-tune your digital TV equipment, please check your user guide for full details. If you don't have a copy of the user guide to hand please use our easy-to-follow instructions:

Press 'menu' on your remote control.

From the 'menu' options on screen, select the 'set up' or 'installation' menu. Select 'first time installation' or 'update'

Some digital televisions, boxes and TV recorders will ask you for a code. If you haven't already changed it this is usually either 0000 or 1234.

You may have to wait a couple of minutes for the re-tune to complete.
