About Switchover

The digital switchover process in parts of South and Central Wales (Carmel transmitter)

Switchover for the Carmel transmitter group is a two stage process taking place on Wednesday 26 August and Wednesday 23 September. Engineering work is carried out at the Carmel transmitter and each of its 18 relay transmitters. At each stage, services will be restored at different times depending on where you live.
On 26th August the switchover process starts and the analogue BBC Two service will be permanently turned off at the Carmel transmitter.
Then on 23rd September the switchover process is completed and all analogue services are turned off at Carmel transmitter. To continue watching TV, viewers will need to install or retune their Freeview equipment.
On both days, services at the Carmel transmitter and some relay transmitters are expected to be restored by 6am, and services at all transmitters are expected to be restored by late afternoon. You will then need to retune your equipment.
Digital UK are the organisation responsible for managing the switchover process. You can find more about the Carmel switchover on the Digital UK website .
