Week 49 Round Up: Freeview News and TV Highlights

The week ahead according to Freeview…
Saturday
The Palladium has been home to some of the biggest names in showbiz today such as Cilla Black, Bruce Forsyth and Joan Rivers. BBC2 will be celebrating 100 Years of the Palladium from 8pm with interviews from headliners of the stage throughout the years about how the theatre keeps its magic.
Over on ITV1 and ITV1 HD at 9.30pm is the final episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here. The final campers will be able to leave the jungle and wash the ticks out of their hair and one person will be crowned King or Queen of the jungle.
Take a walk down memory lane with BBC4 as the channel revisits Top of the Pops, firstly with a show from 1976 at 11pm, followed by Big Hits: TOTP 1964 to 1975. Expect vintage performances form host of musical stars, including Billy Ocean and Elton John.
Sunday
Global superstar, former Destiny Child member and soon-to-be mother, Beyonce heads to ITV1 and ITV1 HD for an intimate performance of her greatest hits. The Crazy In Love singer will also be answering questions from the audience and dancing to the beat of her famous video Single Ladies. A Night with Beyonce starts at 9pm.
10 years ago, there was no such things as Facebook – people used to send postcards. Today, Facebook is worth $100 billion, has over 700 millions users worldwide and is the cause of 1 in 5 US divorces. Creator and owner Mark Zuckerberg makes a rare TV appearance with a full interview from 9pm on BBC2 and BBC HD in Mark Zuckerberg: Inside Facebook.
Set your Freeview+ box or tune in to Channel 4+1 an hour later because there’s a new three-part series called Black Mirror starting on Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD. The three standalone episodes start of with one written by Charlie Brooker and starring Rory Kinnear and Lydia Wilson.
Monday
Come Date with Me is a brand new series for Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD starting at 5pm. Here’s the format: take five men and one woman. The woman cooks on the first night and gets rid of two of the men. The remaining men each host a dinner party and try to woo said lady. The last man standing and the lady live happily ever after… Well, we would like to think that’s what happens. The series continues throughout the week at the same time.
The Million Pound Drop Live is back for a new series from 10pm on Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD. Davina McCall hosts the tense quiz show where contestants have a chance to win £1 million.
BBC3 continue their real-life programming with Exposed: Groomed for Sex at 9pm. The documentary, featuring Adil Ray, looks at the rise of recent high profile cases of Asian men grooming young girls.
Tuesday
ITV1 and ITV1 HD will be showing a two-part documentary called My Child’s Not Perfect at 9pm. The films tells the story of brave children with various learning or emotional difficulties and how the parents deal with daily life. The second episode is on next week at the same time.
BBC3 is set to assess the first rose-tinted months of a couples new relationship in The Nearlyweds at 9pm. Two recently engaged couples will move in together in an attempt to analyses each others relationships. Just want you want after saying yes to marrying to marriage.
Also on at 9pm is After Life: the Strange Science of Decay, a whole 90 minis dedicated to mould! The show looks at how mould and insects breakdown food with the results of a kitchen bin after 8 weeks. Education time.
Wednesday
There’s football on Freeview tonight from 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITV1 HD as FC Basel v Manchester United. Kick off is at 7.45pm live from Manchester, presented by Adrian Chiles.
At 9pm on Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD, property developer Phil Spencer is on a mission to fill empty houses in Phil’s Empty Home Giveaway. Taking two homeless men under his wing, Phil tracks down vacant properties and ask the owners if they will let them if he renovates them – but can he persuade them?
Gossip and blogger Perez Hilton comes from LA to ITV2 for Perez Hilton Superfan from 10pm. The first episode is all about Lady Gaga as Hilton follows the superstar around as she performs around the world from the US to down under.
Thursday
Kevin McCloud is back on Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD and he’s creating cheap houses. OK, not cheap – but economical. Kevin’s Grand Designs will build a series of homes that are the same price as ‘social housing’. The new series starts at 8pm.
There’s a new drama in town under the name of Without You and it stars Anna Friel and Marc Warren. Based on What to do When Someone Dies, the three-part series is about a husband who dies in a car crash, causing his wife to become obsessed with the female passenger who also died.
Friday
The nation have voted and yes, ITV1 had dedicated a whole 90 minutes to the results. The Nation’s Favourite Bee Gees Song is on at 9pm on ITV1 and ITV1 HD with special guests, including Elton John, Dave Grohl and Beverly Knight. Barry and Robin Gibb will be looking back at the group’s career and counting down the top 20 Bee Gee tracks.
It’s hip to the hop from 9pm on BBC4 as the channel dedicates two hours to the sound of Brooklyn staring with Public Enemy: Prophets of Rage. The film looks at the careers of the one of the biggest group of the 80s and interviews include Flavor Flav and Run DMC. The documentary is followed by Hip Hop at the BBC at 10pm which features performances Jay-Z and Fugees.
