We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to watch great TV for free. That's what Freeview is all about. All you have to do is buy either a digital box, Freeview Playback digital TV recorder or digital TV with Freeview built-in.  It's simple, there are no strings attached and no subscription.  Just a nice warm welcome to free TV Land.

Once you have checked you are in a Freeview coverage area, the only thing you might need to do is make sure that your rooftop aerial is up to scratch. That way you'll get great reception with the sharpest picture and the best quality sound.

The Organisation

Freeview is managed by DTV Services Ltd, a company owned and run by its five shareholders - BBC, BSkyB Channel 4, ITV and National Grid Wireless. Launched in October 2002, the Freeview service provides free-to-air digital TV channels, radio stations and interactive services through an aerial.
