What interactive services are available on Freeview?

You can get great 'hidden' interactive services when you press the red button.

There's digital text and enhanced TV, including additional video streams for events such as Wimbledon, Open Golf, Six Nations, Glastonbury, etc. In many cases, you can voice your views through TV voting.

Learn more about the interactive services available with the Freeview how-to video on the Red Button.

Why do I not receive all of the BBC Red Button streams?

The BBC Red Button service has the capability to provide alternative viewing to that being shown on any BBC Channel. For example during the Olympics while the actual channel showed coverage of one sport there was coverage of other events being screened on BBC Red Button. These alternatives are known as streams.

BBC Red Button interactive services are available on all 3 digital platforms (Freeview, satellite & cable), but there are differences between the way they operate. Cable and satellite viewers usually can receive three additional streams, but Freeview is only able to support 2 additional streams. This is because Freeview functions through your rooftop aerial and terrestrial digital TV has less bandwidth than cable or satellite.

Will I still receive Teletext?

Freeview includes interactive services from BBC Red Button and digital Teletext channels which feature new and improved graphics with web-like pages.

Also available on Freeview are interactive services including NHS Direct, Directgov and Sky Text.

For more information on the interctive services available on Freeview see the help video about the Red Button.
