Update on Sky Channels

You can currently get Sky News, Sky Three and Sky Sports News on Freeview as well as over 30 other free channels for free.

There has been an announcement from BSkyB of plans to launch a pay-TV subscription service on the digital terrestrial TV (DTT) platform. These plans are still subject to Ofcom approval.  The Ofcom consultation period starts in the autumn and will last 10 weeks, with Ofcom planning to make a statement early 2008. 

Ofcom have ensured the three Sky channels, Sky Three, Sky News and Sky Sports News will remain on Freeview pending the outcome of Ofcom’s review.
