Yes and no. If you only want to watch digital terrestrial Freeview channels, you won't need an internet connection.
But if you have a Freeview Play device and want to access catch-up and on-demand content, then you'll need an internet connection of at least 2Mbps.

APP
Yes, you will need an internet connection to use the Freeview mobile app, either via wi-fi or your own data allowance. It needs to be at least 2Mbps for both the iOS and Android versions of the app.
Watching TV shows or films uses around 1GB of internet or mobile data per hour for SD and up to around 3GB per hour for HD.
Watching shows offline
You can also use the app to find content to download and then watch offline. Once you've found something, just download it in the relevant player's app and you're good to go.
