How do I get new on-demand players and keep them up to date?

TV

Freeview Play comes installed with a great line-up of players with on-demand and catch-up services: BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5, UKTV Play, STV and Horror Bites and CBS Catchup Channels UK.

The service is regularly updated to give you the best viewing experience, so you can jump straight in and start watching with no fuss. But it's a good idea to keep your TV software up to date, to fix any bugs and unlock new features and functionality.

APP

When you first download the Freeview mobile app, you'll be taken through a quick set-up so we can make sure you get the most accurate programme information, depending on where you live.

The app will also detect which on-demand players you need to install on your device – including BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5 and UKTV Play – so you can link to catch-up content quickly and easily.

Just tap on the player you want to download and the app should take you straight through to the App Store or Google Play Store on your device. Make sure you're signed into them, so you can link to the content directly through the Freeview app.

You can find the list of all the players in the My Freeview area of the app at any time.

How to keep them updated

The best way to do this is to allow automatic updates on your mobile device. That way, if there's been an update to any of the apps (including the Freeview mobile app), you should get a pop-up message when you log in, and all you need to do is follow the instructions to download the update.

How to allow automatic updates varies depending on your device – if in doubt, check its user manual or look up the instructions on the manufacturer's website.
