Freeview, the UK’s biggest TV service, announces that Owen Jenkinson has been promoted to the role of Marketing Director. Owen, who was previously Head of Marketing, will assume responsibility for all of Freeview’s creative output.

Owen joined Freeview in 2009 having previously worked at PlayStation and Channel 4, as well as co-founding a start-up and working at some of the marketing industry’s biggest agencies. He also holds an MSc in Consumer Psychology, specialising in the role of emotions in advertising and how social influence affects consumers, and lectures in advertising psychology at London Metropolitan University.

Freeview has launched several iconic TV advertising campaigns during Owen’s time as Head of Marketing, including Cat and Budgie and the latest advert, Set Yourself Free, to launch new connected TV service Freeview Play. He has also overseen the marketing for Freeview’s rebrand and the high-profile launches of both Freeview HD and Freeview Play.

Owen said: “I believe that Freeview produces some of the most exciting and innovative marketing and TV advertising in the UK, as the success of some of our recent well-loved TV adverts has shown. I’m really looking forward to leading the company’s marketing as we continue to grow and make Freeview Play the new normal way of watching TV.”

Guy North, Freeview Managing Director said: “Owen’s promotion is an extremely well-deserved reflection of his work and dedication to the company over the past few years. I’m very confident that, with Owen at the helm of our marketing and the expansion of Freeview Play, 2016 is set to be a big year.”
