Problems with the TV guide (EPG) on some FTA, Thomson or Digifusion boxes

We have recently been made aware that a small number of people have experienced the loss of use of their electronic TV guide (EPG). The vast majority of Freeview customers in over 18m homes throughout the UK are unaffected by this problem.

This is because the company called InView, which provides this proprietary EPG service, has withdrawn the element of the service which offers 14 day updates on forthcoming programming.

This affects only a small number of old legacy models, none of which were eligible to use the digital tick logo, but it has been brought to our attention that some manufacturers Digifusion (Beko) and Sony incorrectly featured the digital tick. Viewers who wish to complain should contact their equipment manufacturer.

Digital UK and Freeview strongly advise customers to purchase models with the DVB Standard 7-day EPG, which forms part of the requirement for the digital tick certification mark, setting the standard for customers and offering peace of mind when it comes to purchasing equipment which offers access to Freeview.

Whilst Freeview is not responsible for this loss of service, we have contacted the third party involved to see if a solution can be found.
