Freeview iOS Mobile App (launching 22 Jan 2019)

What is the Freeview mobile app?

Tired of searching through different apps to find something to watch? We’ve made it extra easy for you by bringing together a host of shows to watch live or on demand, all through the new Mobile App from Freeview.

Browse through our concise Now and Next feature, or go straight to the TV Guide to catch up on content from the last 7 days.

Set reminders and we’ll tell you when your favourite show is about to start, so you never miss a thing. If you already know exactly what you’re in the mood for, you can also search to get immediate results or suggestions from today, or from our On Demand catalogue – all while on the move.

Do I need to be connected to the internet to use the app?

Yes and no. Just like Freeview on your TV at home, the mobile app from Freeview brings you free content when you’re on the move.

Just make sure you have an active connection to Wi-Fi or your data network when browsing or watching Live and On Demand.

How do I find a show to watch live?

You can find shows available for live streaming on the What’s On page, via the Guide or through Search results labelled ‘From Today‘.

When you have selected a show to watch within the Freeview app, press Play and we’ll take you straight to what you want to watch within the players provided by our channel partners.

Do I need to sign in to the app to use it?

You won’t need to sign in to the Freeview app but you may be required to sign in to the players provided by channel partners.

How do I set up the app?

When you first install the app on your device, you will be taken through a quick set up so that we can provide you with the most accurate programme information depending on where you live.

The app will also detect which players you need to install on your device so you can link to content playback quickly and easily.

Why do you need to know my location?

Depending on where you are located, the channel line-up will display relevant programme information for your region.

It’s important that you follow the setup process to enable your device’s location services, or manually enter your postcode to provide you with accurate programme information.

If you have switched on your location services to detect your location, your TV region won’t change automatically as you move around the country.  If you are travelling, you will be able to manually reset your location within the My Freeview section of the app.

Why can I link to live shows from some channels and not others?

Not all Freeview channels offer live content within their own mobile app. We’re working on this and will let you know when we have brought more partners on board.
