How do I set my region/location?

TV

If you're setting up your region for the first time, it's easy, as it's all part of the set-up process.

  1. First, you'll probably be asked to select your country and then your region.
  2. Next, your TV or recorder will scan for the available Freeview channels – this will take a few minutes.
  3. Usually, it will find the strongest signal and therefore the best region for you. But if there’s an overlap between them, you can choose the best one for you.
  4. The manufacturer may have some additional services for you to agree to, then you can start watching TV.

To reset your TV's location

If you've moved house or you're getting the wrong regional channels (for example, BBC England instead of BBC Scotland, or BBC East Midlands instead of BBC Anglia), you'll have to retune. We have various guides to make this as easy as possible – see the related content section below for more details.

APP

Go to the My Freeview section of the app, press the cogwheel icon top right and tap on Region.

You can then either use your device's Location Services to detect where you are or just enter your current postcode. You can reset it as many times as you like.
