How can I increase the number of channels I receive?

TV

With Freeview you'll usually get more than 70 standard and a selection of HD channels. To see what channels are available in your area, just enter your postcode in our Freeview Channel Checker

For even more channels, there's Freeview Play, which gives you the biggest shows live and on demand, all together in one place and all for free.

You'll find programmes from BBC iPlayer, ITVX, All 4, My5 and UKTV Play sitting alongside live television in the TV Guide. Other services, such as BBC News and BBC Sport are available from the Freeview Play apps page. All you have to do is connect your Freeview Play TV or recorder to the internet.

Explore Freeview Play

Channel 100 in Freeview Play gives you easy access to all our on-demand players. You can find your favourite shows via the universal search feature, and get specially curated recommendations from BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, My5 and UKTV Play. The Help & Alerts section lets you find out how to get the most from Freeview Play.

Missing channels?

If you're still seeing channels on the Freeview Channel Checker that you're not receiving, you may need to retune your equipment – just follow the steps in our retuning guide. If you're still having problems after that, please check out our aerial troubleshooting guide.

APP

To get the maximum amount of channels on the Freeview app it's simple – you just need to download all the players:

  • BBC iPlayer (BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, CBBC, CBeebies, BBC News, BBC Parliament – live and on demand)
  • ITVX (ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, ITVBe, CITV – live and on demand)
  • All 4 (Channel 4, E4, Film 4, More 4 – live and on demand)
  • My5 (5, 5USA, 5STAR, 5Spike, Paramount Network, 5SELECT – live and on demand)
  • UKTV Play (Dave, Really, Yesterday, Drama – on demand only)

You may already have these apps installed, but if not, you can also find the list of catch-up apps in the My Freeview area of the app at any time. Or you can search for them in the App Store or the Google Play Store.

You'll need to be logged in to each player so the Freeview app can link directly to them. Remember that the number of channels you'll receive will depend on your location. Use our Freeview Channel Checker to see what channels you should be able to get in your area.
