Can I get subtitles, and if so, how?

Most programmes on Freeview are subtitled to help viewers who are hard of hearing, and the service is constantly increasing.

You can get subtitles with most Freeview equipment. To access them:

  • Press the Subtitles button (may also be shown as SUB) on your set-top box or TV's remote control.
  • Alternatively, press the Menu button then follow the on-screen options until you reach options for language and subtitles.

If you want to find out more about how different digital TVs and boxes display subtitles, visit the BBC website section on Audio description and subtitles.
