Changes to TV signals in some areas
Freeview TV signals in some areas have recently been updated. Details are available at TV changes. If you are missing channels following a change in your area, retune your TV or box following the steps listed below. If this does not restore your channels, call the Freeview advice line on 0808 100 0288. Viewers in these areas may be eligible for free in-home support, including aerial work if necessary.
Retuning Freeview equipment
To get the most up to date service from Freeview it is important to retune from time to time. Check the service updates section of Freeview which will list any significant events that may require a retune. Newer Freeview equipment will often prompt you to retune in these instances, but older boxes usually require you to instigate a retune every couple of months to make sure you are up to date. The process is straightforward but varies slightly between boxes from different manufacturers.
New channels are launched on Freeview from time to time along with other updates to the service. So it pays to retune your digital box or TV .
Press menu on your box or TV remote control.
Now select set-up, installation, update or similar option. If you’re asked for a password the default code is 1234 or 0000.
Now select the ‘first time installation’ option (sometimes called ‘factory reset’, ‘full retune’ or ‘default settings’). Press ‘OK’ if your equipment asks if it is OK to delete existing channels. This will clear your existing settings and find the new channel line-up. If prompted then save the channels that are found.
You may find that channel favourites and scheduled recordings are also deleted so check and reset these.
