Anyone for Tennis? It’s time for Wimbledon.

Posted July 2, 2018 - Blog Posts,News and Blog

The great summer of sport continues on Freeview this week, with the return of Wimbledon.

It’s set to be an exciting two weeks with both Roger Federer and Garbiñe Muguruza looking to defend their crowns, and French Open champions Rafael Nadal and Simona Halep nipping at their heels. Seven-time champion Serena Williams also can’t be ruled out. With Andy Murray out of the running, British hopes now rest on the rackets of Johanna Konta and Kyle Edmund.

If you haven’t got a ticket to the All England Club, Freeview is giving you a court-side seat. Between today and 15 July you can enjoy the most exciting matches on BBC One, BBC Two and five Red Button feeds. There’s also a nightly highlights programme on BBC Two.

True sports fanatics can catch up with the best of the action on Freeview Play – which means if there’s a clash between the football and the tennis, you won’t miss that shocking penalty or that brilliant volley.

Viewers with 4K TVs are also in for a special treat: for the first time the BBC is streaming Wimbledon in 4K resolution and high dynamic range colour. Which means viewers with the right equipment can expect a brighter, sharper picture and a superior viewing experience.
