As the Easter weekend approaches, we all have the chance to relax with an Easter egg or two and enjoy a whole load of fantastic TV. To give you a little helping hand when it comes to choosing what to watch, we’ve picked our daily highlights.
Springwatch proper may not be with us until May, but this early one-off report is more than welcome, and, as always, the wildlife films are stunning. This time they include a visit to a Yorkshire pond where a spawning of frogs has attracted predators from owls to otters. Plus the team meet a golden eagle fitted with a satellite tracking device.

This ‘friendly’ between these fierce old rivals, which takes place in Berlin’s Olympiastadion, sees the pair start their warm-ups for this summer’s Euro 2016. It’s their first meeting since November 2013, when Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker grabbed the winner for Joachim Loew’s team.

Rowan Atkinson’s debut as the legendary fictional French detective Jules Maigret sees Paris gripped with fear after four women are killed on the streets of Montmartre. The first in a run of dramas based on the novels of Georges Simenon, the sleuth is set to return in Maigret’s Dead Men later in the year.
