The X Factor 2015: what you need to know

Posted September 3, 2015 - Blog Posts

Love it or hate it, either way, The X Factor is impossible to ignore. Simon Cowell’s hugely successful talent show returns to our screens this Saturday at 8pm on ITV. This time round, Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw and popstar Rita Ora join Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini on the judge’s panel. While Caroline Flack and Olly Murs will be presenting the show in its twelfth season.

This week’s opener sees the start of the auditions. An array of talent will be looking to impress the judges with a place in boot camp up for grabs. But we’d be fooling ourselves if we said that was the only reason for tuning in – there’s bound to be a few entertainingly rubbish auditions too. And then there are the ones who don’t seem to promise much but defy our expectations.

Just 24 hours after the 90-minute launch show, a second episode will be screened on ITV, at 8pm on Sunday 30 August, with more coverage of the audition process.

It’s not just the judging panel that’s had a shake-up this year; the show’s format has also changed. The room auditions have been dropped, while there are some suggestions that the judge’s house round will be televised live. But some things never change, like Simon Cowell’s enduring flat top…timeless.
