UKTV channels survive the weekend on Freeview

Posted July 23, 2018 - Blog Posts

After a weekend of no negotiations because, honestly, this shouldn’t be that difficult, Freeview has confirmed that unlike Virgin Media, UKTV channels are staying on Freeview. Freeview viewers will continue to enjoy great shows from Dave, Home, Really, Yesterday and Drama all for free.

Freeview viewers can enjoy over 85 channels all for free including 15 not available to paying Virgin Media customers on its ironically named ‘Player’ TV Package. These include Food Network, Travel Channel, and More 4 as well as kids channels Pop and Tiny Pop*.

A spokesperson for Freeview said, “We’ve all worked hard over the weekend seeing our friends and families and haven’t worried for a second about how we’re going to watch the next series of Taskmaster on Dave. It’s odd that Virgin Media are charging their viewers actual money to not receive channels broadcast on Freeview, which as the name suggests is free.”

*Full list of channels available on Freeview but not on Virgin Media’s Player TV Package are:

Food Network

Sony Crime Channel

Sony Movie Channel

Talking Pictures TV

Tiny Pop

Travel Channel

True Entertainment

True Movies
