More HD channels coming to Freeview

Posted July 16, 2013 - Features

Hurray! Great news this morning, as word came from Ofcom, the BBC and Arqiva confirming that the way has been paved for you fabulous people to get up to ten additional HD channels on Freeview HD.

So far, the BBC has announced plans to launch five of these new, subscription-free HD channels:

  1. BBC News HD
  2. BBC Three HD
  3. BBC Four HD
  4. CBeebies HD
  5. CBBC HD

This will give you a further 250 hours of HD programmes per week. How good is that?

These and other channels yet to be announced could go live in some parts of the country by early 2014.

We think this is great news for all of you Freeview-ers out there who have shown an increased appetite for HD channels since we first launched Freeview HD.

We’ll be sure to let you know what the other channels will be as soon as we can so keep checking our website, follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook to stay in the know.
